Read MoreAriadne Mikou is a Greek-born dance and performing arts artist-researcher who is currently residing in Italy. After graduating from the School of Architecture at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (GR) with a joined Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree, she moved to the USA in order to pursue a Master of Fine Arts in Dance from The Ohio State University with support from the State Scholarship Foundation of Greece (IKY) and a Graduate Teaching Assistantship. Wishing to deepen her interdisciplinary choreographic practice she embarked on a fully-funded practice-as-research PhD at the University of Roehampton (London), which she concluded in 2018. She contributes to academic journals and book anthologies that explore expanded and interdisciplinary choreographic practices, screendance issues, community making and site interventions and she is also a regular contributor for Springback Magazine, a magazine dedicated to the field of contemporary dance in Europe, especially its independent arts sector. In 2021, she was awarded a Research Grant for the Creative Europe project Dancing Museums-The Democracy of Beings from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice where she also worked as a Research Assistant for the oral history SPIN project Memory in Motion: Re-Membering Dance History (2019–2022). Currently, she conducts research on dance archives as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice for the project CHANGES - Cultural Heritage Active Innovation for Sustainable Society and she is an independent dance and screendance curator.
