A part-time lecturer and full-time freelance researcher in sociology of theatre, Somayeh Khani received her Ph.D. from Griffith University, Australia in 2017. While her background is in English Literature, she specializes in dramatic arts and literature. After finishing her PhD program, she decided to research the Iranian independent and privatized theatre focusing on the economic struggles of theatre practitioners and their approach to tackle censorship. Somayeh now resides in Iran and teaches courses of sociology of arts and theatre at Art University of Tehran and Sooreh University.
